This is my fan page for Old Blind Dogs, a four-man group from Scotland. They play traditional Scots music with a contemporary edge, and have been around since the early 1990's.
The members of the group have changed over the years, as has the band's sound, but the music is always great! They have a powerful, unique sound, with African drum rhythms and Scottish border pipes and bagpipes.
Check them out! www.oldblinddogs.demon.co.uk

In 2007 they had a reunion of current and former members, playing two concerts in Scotland. If only I hadda been there.

CD Review
The lyrics to the auld songs are amazing - also the vocal harmonies, melodies, and instrumentation. Tender ballads and great pumping dance music - full of passion.

This concert was amazingly good. They tour the U.S. once a year or more. If they play near you, I advise you to run, not walk, to hear them.

The current lineup is (top photo) Ali Hutton (pipes and whistles), Jonny Hardie (fiddle, mandolin, guitar and vocals), Aaron Jones (guitar, bouzouki and vocals), and Donald Hay (percussion and vocals). These photos were taken in August, 2018 at a concert in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, for The Green Willow of Newark, Delaware.

Photo at right: Ali Hutton and Jonny Hardie. Jonny is the only original member still in the band.

Photo at left: Aaron Jones and drummer Donald Hay. Hay used a drumming technique that causes the drum beats to sound in musical notes.
To the right: Ali and Jonny. Jonny mostly has done vocal harmony, but he sang lead vocal for one song in this photo. His voice is not the usual smooth lead vocal, but more 'rough,' and was very strong and expressive of Celtic folk music. I hope he does more lead vocals.
