Nancy Doyle Fine Art
This is an original pastel called Farm, which depicts a local scene in rural Pennsylvania. Since this drawing was done, the field in the foreground has become the home for a large development of houses. I always wanted to do a landscape with a low horizon line (and therefore large sky), so that was one of the things I was thinking about here. I wanted to try to get a sense of distance, particularly in the sky, with its dramatic color change from deep blue at the top to a pale lavender at the tops of the trees, and with the small clouds. This is a small pastel, the actual drawing measuring only 7" x 9". It is professionally framed with an off-white matte and a simple gilt wood frame.
